A seed of hope

The rain pauses, and the sun’s rays
Breathe life into each diamond droplet-
Causing a rainbow to grow-
Arching from the pot of gold
Where limericks play
To mount Hebron where
A dove mouths peace
To Moses by way of an olive branch.
Each colour an emblem,
A note to each nation of mankind
Say, we are included in
A plan greater than ourselves;
My nature needs to be more kind.
Pausing for thought I separate
Like a prism and filter,
like chaff from the wheat
What has passed before.
The notion of paradise
Baffles me…
I equate it
To a chance at new life.
A new beggining.
There will always be summer
And winter, daylight and darkness
Cold and heat-
To remind this frail vessel
Of the thread which ties me
To the shores of a new birth.
A new dawn
All of God’s anger now ceased.
Marks the name of my ancestry
In knotted ploughed soil
I plant a seedling
In memory-
The fertile good green earth.
