the laundry room near my dorm

works just fine.

I’ve never actually had anything stolen

From the dryer

Or the washer

Or anywhere at all.

For the record, it isn’t that convenient

To walk across campus

And wash my clothes by your building

Because my basket is heavy

And the handle digs into my hip

And I always forget

the soap.

But for the record,

I don’t really mind

Because sometimes you’re there

Folding your whites

And I can talk to you

While everything else tumbles

and I can be warm as sheets

caught in a cycle

soft at the edges.
