“I had such a great day at the park,” muttered Colin to himself.
“Why are you reminiscing already? I haven’t left yet,” replied his friend, Mustafa.
“Sorry, I just like to look back that’s all. Of course I’m still having a great day,” smiled Colin as he gazed around at the park.
“Good. I am too. It’s just a shame that your mate Marshall couldn’t enjoy it with us.”
“I think it’s best he didn’t come. I mean he is a nice person. It’s just that no matter what topic you get onto, he always ends up relating the conversation back to the hour hand of a clock. It can get a bit tedious.”
“I guess. What about Jeff?”
“He always takes at least an hour to greet you. The less said about him the better.”
“He can’t be any worse than Sarah. She confuses everyone . She talks in ‘latters’ and ‘formers’ the whole time,” said Mustafa.
“Ah yes, I find the former to be far more difficult to comprehend,” added Colin.
“OK. Well, moving on. I have to say that this is a lovely place to be. It looks incredibly dapper. This area looks very welcoming,” replied Mustafa.
The conversation was drowned out by the presence of two new arrivals.
“This place is a bit miserable,” said Marie.
“Yeah it is, isn’t it? Something about this park. It’s hardly creative,” said her best friend Adam as he strolled alongside.
“You can talk. Since when have you been creative? You couldn’t even invent unoriginality,” snapped Marie.
“If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all you stupid idiot,” said Adam.
“Stop being so tetchy then.”
“I’m sorry, my day’s not going too well. I just got banned from WHSmith. Looks like I’ll have to get my rubbers elsewhere now.”
“I apologise too. At least you never whisper behind people’s backs.”
“Yeah, I wait until they’ve left the room,” replied Adam.
Colin was admiring the park before addressing Mustafa again, “I don’t see what is so bad about this place. I feel happy just by standing here.” Colin turned his gaze which now looked straight on. “By the way, I didn’t realise this CCTV camera was watching us the whole time...”
