"I'm bored," said Galactic Emperor Xhi't. "What play thing can you offer me today?"
 
"Have you been watching Flash Gordon?" said his mate, Mike.
 
"What is this... Flash Gordon?" said Galactic Emperor Xhi't, in a deep and menacing tone.
 
"Just a film from planet Earth," said Mike.
 
"Earth?" said Galactic Emperor Xhi't - only he pronounced it 'Eaurrrth'.
 
"Do you have to be so dramatic?" said Mike.
 
"I am the Lord of the Universe!" declared Galactic Emperor Xhi't.
 
"Well you're not really, are you?" said Mike.
 
"Nearly..." said Galactic Emperor Xhi't.
 
"Look," said Mike, "I don't want to bring you down, but the clue's in the title - Galactic Emperor... emperor of a galaxy... not the entire Universe."
 
"It's still pretty impressive," said Xhi't.
 
"Undoubtedly," said Mike. "A galaxy is a big thing. But compared to the Universe...?" - he shrugged.
 
Galactic Emperor Xhi't had a think. He then shrugged also.
 
"So," said Galactic Emperor Xhi't, "what play thing can you offer me today?"
 
"Scrabble?" suggested Mike.
 
"Alright then," said Galactic Emperor Xhi't.

We always hear of the evil egomaniacs whose plans, at least to some degree, come to fruition, don't we? But what of those whose plans never get off the ground?

(perhaps all the evil egomaniacs need a 'Mike'...)
