Ring of Bright Water

Trails of allegiance and treachery,
a pathway both scathing and appealing;
like a lovers first kiss brings to life
veiled secrets...both mystical and real,
Somewhere deep in the unconscious recesses,
remembering a time when momentous, phenomenon
unfolded; leading to not just a deity...but one who waits
in the vortex of enchantment...beneath a clouded lake.
Vivianna; she has no fear...
but waits with sword in hand
for a king to come...who will
one day rule the land,
the warmth of his eyes
will be blind to truth,
through mist vague and
deceptive, there will be clues,
but even a fallible king may falter;
unsure of a woman's touch,
love...when evocative is so rich
and ripe, lusting like the fruit tree of life.
She...who's obscured; immerses herself
in the ripples of translucent heavenly bodies,
casting shadows reflect – as limbs contort;
devoid of frond but still animate,
her palm sweeps the rings of jewels
as they undulate, those stars will quash
any doubts; so she lingers...a relic to
relinquish to a destiny preordained.
His land a mission to rule,
it cannot be governed by magic alone...
but a blade more fierce than the sharpest sabre;
brandished in his honour, withdrawn from stone,
that he may see his kingdom prosper,
a declaration so honourable – herein
stands truth...so come royal noble,
be happy and glad...speak your message,
awaken your people with compassion
before it's too late; for in time – death
will come...signalling your souls flight
to its fate.

You have put so much thought
You have put so much thought into this, Jenny - it's truly beautiful to read.

Hi Jennifer
Hi Jennifer
This is a very interesting poem - telling a story which although I haven't read your other writing, I wonder if it is somehow inter-related - sort of magical science fiction sort of thing.

Oh, Jenny...I don't know
Oh, Jenny...I don't know however I missed this one. It is so very beautiful, and as I read it, shades of Camelot wafted into my mind, and it seems I was right.
I cannot pick a favourite stanza, they are all outstanding. A sheer joy to read, and thank you for transporting me back in time, for a few minutes, at least.
