Just Add Egg

As prescribed by Ernest Dichter in 1952:
Just add egg
To the ready-made cake mix.
No fuss.
Do it yourself.
A contemporary twist?
Select free range,
Organic.
If you have no knife
Break it on that platinum plate in your skull.
Allow its yellow to be swallowed by the air as if
Something inexplicable is drinking up the sun.
Don’t beat the mix of flour and other stuff
But fold
As if binding oxygen to the soul.
That’s right,
Just add egg but not dried egg-
There is no war on!
The chickens in their cages
Can flap their wings and turn 360 degrees
These days.
Is there a war on?
Run into the centre of your towns and cities
Looking to screw the one per cent and establish a new world order.
Exercise your broken wings and imitate lost children.
Listen to them roosters all puffed up and heavy with bling,
They may have something to say.
You may have something to say!
We’re all fighting for air but some more than others.
You can hear it first hand on the street:
‘Hang on mate we're gasping!’
You have never bound anything together but the blind
So, this time, do it gentle
With love egg, egg not just one egg but many and
Follow each crack with a pause in which all things should be considered-
Not just the yoke.
Learn from past mistakes.
Remember the white as well.
Go on
You can do it!
Just
Let it slither down your face.
Let it leave no trace.
Do not hesitate.
Do not forget.
Do not dribble the white
As if it were spittle from your dry mouth after a catastrophic stroke.
Do not bother the doctors with your hurt felt heart-
They’ll give you those antibiotics and diagnose you
With a red one that’s gone yellow; they will want evidence
Of your five fruit and vegetables and proof you’ve missed steak.
You can do your own dying.
Just like last time when you
Burnt
The
Cake.
Here is a tried and tested home remedy:
Just
Secrete yourself into forgotten corners of childhood
Add
Where you used to play
Egg.
