Planning Exits: Serious and humorous (IP)

Keep your pathway quite clear from you to the door,
remember you’ll have to get out, before
tempers arise from those who despise
anyone thought to be sent by authority,
even though you are trying to lift them from poverty,
trouble, despair – still tempers can flare,
so keep your voice cool, but don’t be a fool,
a plan for retreat brings success from defeat.

Keep your eye on the clock when Grandad rings,
make a mental note of when he begins,
and decide on the time that you wish it to end,
and when it creeps near, don’t effort expend
in dropping small hints, you will have to be firm
– no need for embarrassed excuses, don’t squirm –
you have to stop now, and promise you’ll try
to speak to him soon – and good listening supply.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Both your planned exits made perfect sense, and took an ordinary situation and made it special in poetry. Well done.
