Lovers' Lane

Shine a light down Lovers' Lane
Where George and Barry meet again
One night they met as strangers here
Where strangers meet all times of year
A sudden twist of Fate's new game
A hurried kiss down Lovers' Lane
It could have been too late, too soon
That night they met beneath that moon
But meet they did and jeans undid
And in that trenchant moonlight hid
They doubled up in monstrous glee
And had a thrust or two or three
Then parted once the deed was done
And slept until the friendly Sun
Shone once again with something missing
And that lost thing was tender kissing
So back they came each week at dark
Yet missed each time within the park
Ending up with others who
Were good enough, that much is true
Yet though some passions were ignited
They were humdrum not delighted
But they kept coming over, over
Looking for that one true lover
And now this night: it's April, early
When budding buds are new unfurly
Within those bushes George awaits
Who's there passing dusky gates
It's Barry, bless 'im, "Barry darling!"
George hands him out a brace of Carling
And holding hands they walk the night
Leaving leaves behind tonight
And catch a film in Uptown Square
Then home at ten to Barry's where
They drink some shots and play Guess Who?
Then settle down and have a screw
Love lives on in Lovers' Lane
Where one love's loss is another's gain
Take hope, take heart, there is no can't
Take beer, take boots, take lubricant
