The House Of Rain

No one knew from whence she came
The little girl lived in the house of rain
It was down the hill and up the lane
A silhouette at each day's wane
Always changing just the same
Where the little girl lived in the house of rain
She had no parents, had no name
Her long black hair was a wild mane
Her lightning eyes could not be tamed
That little girl who lived in the house of rain
She sang like the wind on a windy day
She laughed to keep loneliness at bay
She danced in a long forgotten way
Did the little girl who lived in the house of rain
The men in suits came again and again
"You'll be rich if you sell?" they all exclaimed
But she slammed the door in their faces just the same
Did the little girl who lived in the house of rain
Singing, "what can't be bought can't be sold,
I'm younger than you but twice as old
i was here at the start and to the end remain,"
sang the little girl who lived in the house of rain
And she knew that it was her that grew the grain
of truth that sprung from the dusty plain
Did the little girl who lived in the house of rain
