Avalanche

Did you heed the call of silence

when you snowshoed across the stars

or did the awe well up inside you

causing the mountain to break and fall

How I've wondered where you were

since you left our glowing lodge

the hearth is still burning brightly here

so you may see it from afar

At night I gaze upon the mountain

standing dark and tall

and wonder how to find you

my lost and fallen star,

perhaps you are not far
