Befana (Seasonal song based upon the Italian Santa Clause)

On the eve of the epiphany,

so folks believe in Italy,

there is a little old lady

who flies upon a broom.

From house to house, swiftly, she goes

and brings gifts to good bambinos;

down chimney pot pops into those

good little children's rooms.

Befana is her name

and bringing

good cheer to

Her hamper is filled up

with candy, toys and games

Kids leave out wine and biscotti

and even kids who've been naughty

get lumps of coal that are sooty

but really candy rocks.

Befana sweeps up with her broom;

she sweeps away the old years gloom

and sweeps in some good luck.
