Separation

It wasn't meant to be like this.

I watch your shoulders hunch as you walk away from me and I long to scream after you " Please ! Im sorry!"

But we both know it's right.

You look back and I see the pain in your eyes , screaming at me " Why ? Why should I go ?"

And I have no words, just a silent apology on my lips and eyes filled with tears

The door closes behind you and I squeeze my eyes shut, picturing your last look - the hurt on your face, the look of bewilderment and the fear of what is to come.

I slowly walk away, head stooped, heart pounding, hoping that you will soon forget all about me.

I hope we both forget how we made each other feel on this cold, autumn morning and I pray that we will never feel this way again.

I never realised how hard the first day of school would be.....
