Why is it better to have love and lost, than never loved at all?

Had I never loved I would've never known heartbreak. 

I would have never experienced the creation of a dream so much bigger than myself. 

I would've never experienced having it ripped away and given to someone else. 

Had I never loved I would've never experienced the emptiness one feels when their heart walks away. 

Love showed me a great many things. Beautiful things. But at a price. 

I sit now trying to drink it away. 

There are many things a wise man may wish to be ignorant of. I can't help but think this is one of them.
