You doing your best to get ahead

so you work all day but don’t get paid ,

the daily bread no ones giving

it don’t make sense working for a living

you pay the cost for a work place boss ,

you get some credit but you’re at a loss ,

you give your time without asking a fee

its twenty first century slavery   .

Its all slave labour can’t you see .

there’s lots to do but the workers are few

the cost of living is rising fast

and it seems wages are a thing of the past

Its all slave labour these days ,

slave labour in many ways , slave labour

give us a break cause I don’t know how much more  we can take

The chosen few are willing to

show you where to go and tell you what to do

or even those on their way up through

another door on the second floor .

there’s always a placement on the ground floor

basement and someday soon you could get a degree

but if you’re asking me as far as I can see

 its twenty

first century slavery   .

Its enough to drive you round the bend

but it will all be worth it in the end

When others see all the time you spent 

and the overall importance of what it meant

 to become the person who you are

to get over the hurdles you’ve had so far .

No pain no gain , for you and me

 to become the person we’re meant to be .
