A Butterfly In Flight

The butterfly floated by and landed on a bud ,
I looked at it and knew it would fly away soon , 
I whispered stay a while longer , If only it would ,
But I knew it would be gone before the flower would bloom  .
Springtime is coming soon and everything shall become 
Wrapped in colour and every dawn will bring heaven near  . 
I closed my eyes and said a prayer in the morning sun .
Rest a while gentle butterfly , there’s nothing to fear  . 
The night is long and life is so short and then its gone   .
The wings that give flight are a gift God has given you 
Fly away into the light before the brand new dawn 
The sky awaits and the sun is brightly shining too .
