Maritza And The Golden Invitation

There once was a girl, named Maritza who had a fairy of bad luck and a fairy of good luck.
And the fairy of bad luck made her parents die in an accident but the fairy of good luck found her a new place to live.
Unfortunately, the fairy of bad luck made it the house of her evil old Aunt who, jealous of her youth and beauty, treated Maritza terribly, making her do all her chores like a slave and forcing her to wear rags, eat scraps and sleep upon a cold stone floor.
So the fairy of good luck, flying to the royal palace, made the prince of that land send out a golden invitation pinned to the leg of a dove,
"Whichever girl finds this golden invitation, no matter how poor she may be, shall be invited to the Princes Royal Ball and shall have the same chance of wooing and marrying him as any princess".
Unfortunately the fairy of bad luck made Maritzas evil Aunt find the dove and the golden invitation which she tore up and threw in a waste paper basket.
Now the fairy of bad luck, gloating, thought this was very amusing.
"Ha! ha!", she crowed, "Now Maritza will never marry the prince".
But, because of the fairy of goodluck, Maritzas evil Aunt asked her to sing a lullaby for her knowing that Maritza had a beautiful voice.
And, as she was singing, the fairy of bad luck, listening too, started to fall asleep.
But then, while she and the evil Aunt were both asleep, the fairy of goodluck, waving her wand, made all the torn up pieces of the golden invitation come back together.
Then she woke Maritza and told her to run to the Royal Palace.
"Hurry, while bad luck is still asleep", she said.
And so, quietly opening the front door of the house, Maritza slipped out and then she ran as fast as she could to the royal palace.
But as she was going there, the fairy of bad luck woke up and, seeing Maritza and her Sister Good Luck missing she flew out and, zooming ahead of Maritza, broke all the bridges between her and the royal palace by striking them with her wand.
Now there was no way for her to reach the palace and the fairy of good luck thought that her plan had been well and truly foiled but then, looking round about her, the good luck fairy saw all the pidgeons of the city, milling about, bobbing their heads and cooing and, flying about scattering magic breadcrumbs she made the pidgeons gather together into a single flock and carry Maritza over the broken bridges and over the palace walls, putting her down infront of the entrance to the palace.
And when they saw that she had the golden invitation, the palace guards let Maritza enter the palace and she was taken to meet the prince.
And the moment that the Prince saw Maritza, though there were a dozen beautiful princess's  at the ball, he fell in love with her and gave an order to ring the bells of love that signalled to all that he had found the love of his dreams, the woman he wanted to marry.
But the fairy of bad luck was so angry at losing that she started to stamp her foot and, each time she stamped her foot, she grew a little bigger until finally she had grown into a giant and then she reached into the palace and grabbed hold of Mariza, roaring,
"No one ruins my plans".
But then the prince, climbing upon a white horse, rode out to bravely fight the giant fairy.
Time and time again, the fairy struck the ground with her giant wand, trying to smash the Prince with the dark crystal star upon its end but the Prince rode so fast that the wand always missed him.
And then suddenly, the bells of love started to ring and when they did, the giant fairy could not stand the sound of them and, dropping Maritza, she covered her ears.
Thanks to the fairy of goodluck however, the Prince was able catch Maritza in his arms and then the palace guards firing their cannons at the giant fairy, one of their cannonballs struck her in the heart and she fell to the ground.
Then Maritza and the Prince kissed and, not long after, they were wed and lived happily ever after.
