They started their life in the house that they built
Married for two days their love had no guilt
Sunday arrived to greet two veg and beef
The potatoes and steak nearly breaking their teeth
The bread baked with love was soggy and brown
The puddings no bottoms to hold gravy down
And the soup was sour and had so much fat
Harold told Candy it's not fit for a cat
Oh Candy my mother makes two veg and beef
And her bread is so good it melts on your teeth
Her puddings so good they blow you away
Candy I wish you could cook in this way
Oh Harold we've only been married two days
I'm only a beginner and I'll improve with age
Now Harold you know I'm just a beginner
Well your mother arrived and she cooked this dinner!!

'Rose-coloured spectacles' on
'Rose-coloured spectacles' on memories often! I remember someone saying she went to the butcher's and asked for a joint 'to fit this dish', I had empathy with that! Rhiannon
