Signal to Noise Ratio

People speak and in their pauses,

the static crackles, pops and whines,

its patterns discerned between the lines,

under the cover of unfinished clauses.

The frequency of ‘ I’ is un-modulated,

so I wander from their wavelength,

wonder about their unproven , signal strength,

their presence begins to attenuate.

In a crowded bar or open space,

The loudest voice is breaking through,

or maybe anomalous propagation,

the distant echo of another station,

of anyone’s voice, as long as it’s you.
