Saving Eve

She listened to lies
and disobeyed,
found pain not power
and hid, afraid
to meet her Maker-Friend;

but
he met her, met them,
and showed he could – and would
be saving from the misery mess

– one day he’d send
so one of their kind
would squash
satanic scheme,
would rescue and redeem,
revive and wash,
so clothed, their folly hidden

though long the wait
to have full blessing
of their first estate.
