Blue is the Colour

True blue.
Blue truths?
Independence,
almost black.
Passe partout,
“access all areas”;
or Phineas Fogg’s
gentleman’s gentleman.
“It’s a foreign colour, isn’t it?”
The bar-room bluffer says,
he likes oon ver duh van
as much as the next man,
but draws the line at burgundy.
Once it was
a golden ticket,
its holder,
even a ticket-of-leave man,
trusted in the tropics,
common in the commonwealth.
This won’t
return
on bringing the
colour back.

une verre is supposed to be a
une verre is supposed to be a mistake? (I once, confidently ordered one in France and was told by friends after they'd stopped laughing, that it was a weasel, but looking it up now I see it could have been a worm - either way, not what I meant!)
apart from that - yes! or rather no, it won't bring anything back. Idiots one and all.

But I want a proper, original
But I want a proper, original passport, written in Latin, like they were before 1772, when we came under the yoke of Europe and they were all in French. Preferably inscribed on vellum by monks. None of this black/blue cardboard nonsense.
