Sails

I'm becalmed in a day,
Karen,
as flat as this page;
silent as paper. The scents
of rooms with unopened
windows. Heady peonies in vases.
Trees, full volume, in the garden –
strings plucked; shifting sound and branches.
Imagined streets that the inarticulate breeze
shucks and whispers through.
Palimpsests. Sails. Brief philosophies.
These things always lead, in time, to you.
The day is static. Still as water.
I think about you, elsewhere.

Poised and delicate. This
Poised and delicate. This poem is just lovely. I find it full of loss and loneliness, evoked perfectly with the imagery - paper, flat pages, unopened windows. The "inarticulate breeze" is great.

'... the day is static
"... the day is static. Still as water. I think about you, elsewhere". A brilliant poem and then especially this twist in the conclusion, being so far from the one you love.

Sails
Lovely! I just don't understand the title really? Is it about peace, or freedom? The poem has a sad feel a longing, of course.
Go well! Nolan &&
