imbolc

imbolc
light
is returning
it teases just a little more sun
from the close of day
unfurled from their winter bed
buds push free
shake off a dusting of snow
life
is returning
makes the catkins dance
small soft keys
unlock the arrival of leaves
stirring brings a faint
hum of change
an intuitive air
a fresh founding
brights the twilight frost
hard white cold light
that bridge
from winter to spring
this moment
is for quiet awe

I didn't know about this
I didn't know about this festival - your poem gives it shape . A gentle moment of contemplation and quick inhalations of cold air. Lovely.

I feel the urge to rush
I feel the urge to rush outside and dance round a fire - this is our poem of the week - well done!

Beautiful poem and like
Beautiful poem and like Philip I wasn't aware of this festival. Celebrating the increasing day length makes a lot of sense, it would be nice to tone down Christmas and have a bit of this too. Your poem has a quiet magic to it.
