Interlude
By Richard L. Provencher

During a little chat with
Jesus I asked why it’s
so hard – my Pastoral life
spent praising His
name into a conversation.
Today’s world is filled
with cynics He answered.
I guess it’s all about
choice and the proper path
announced my reply.
He said I needed inner-peace:
Jesus chose a ten acre
parcel – flat -- on the edge
of town. Soon new blue spruce
sparkled with vigour.
Its branches hung low
sheltered by a low ridge
& snow with depth about--
all by the sweep of His hand.
Now I sit aside the spruce
silent beneath as sky
scudding with soul–
and a resplendent cloak
this mound of earth. An hour
has passed – mice skitter
beneath the droop
of green. Snow full of animal
tracks & now my energy resumed.
