The Boxer
By Paul McCann
The boxer can’t judge what’s right or wrong ,
he’s got a job to do and he’s got to be strong ,
round after round he’s doing his best,
a few body punches, puts him to the test ,
when the gloves get heavy he can’t wait for the bell
but in the next round he fighting like hell .
Hey Boxer every where you go ,
the crowds like to see you put on a show ,
the way you talk before the bout ,
putting them down , knocking them out.
Sitting in the corner , the times going slow ,
he’s counts out the seconds now he’s ready to go ,
the coach is telling him keep up your guard
and if you get half a chance better hit him hard .
The boxer gives a nod that’s he understood ,
he’s on his feet in a fighting mood
Hey Boxer every where you go ,
the crowds like to see you put on a show ,
the way you talk before the bout ,
putting them down , knocking them out.
Final round , seconds out ,
he takes a deep breath ,
never giving up , he’ll fight to the death ,
he picks up the pace , his feet in a flurry
his opponent backs off starting to worry,
a lethal combination left and right ,
he hit the canvas and they turned out the light .
Hey Boxer every where you go ,
the crowds like to see you put on a show ,
the way you talk before the bout ,
putting them down , knocking them out.
