The Evil Trap

 

I swear I saw a smirky grin

“Smile please!”

Gloated the nasty copper.

With an evil click

I was frozen in time.

Trapped in a moment,

While muggers’ mug

The stabbers stab

And frightened people

Fear for their lives

I get done for doing thirty five!

Not in the city

Not in the town

But with sheep as witness

I’m nailed by this clown.

If this is a cherry topper

I’ll give it to that copper.

Sorry about that – I assume you weren't doing deliberatly 35 to see how far you could test the law?

We got back from one of my sons' wedding to find a fine for getting in a bus lane in London. We are novices to London, and it was a very confusing spot, and my daughter-in-law to be was directing us to where she wanted to go in a very vague way as she had only cycled around the area! We knew we'd got into a buslane very briefly by mistake, and unaware how not to, and were caught! Made us even more careful driving in London ever since (when we, rarely, have to!). Rhiannon

Yes, it was accidental and I smile about it now.  It would be easy to get self-centred and angry, but I remember the servant who owed his master a lot of money, only to be forgiven and go out and beat up someone who owed him a fraction.  My life is one of reflection and I've been a bad boy in the past.  To be angry now would be both selfish and hypercritical..
