Joy to the world – not just a day
of happiness each year,
not just a short-lived time of play,
an answer to all fear,
an answer to all fear,
an answer to all fear.

Angels announced and shepherds heard,
and went to Bethlehem.
They found the child, and spread the word –
amazement followed them,

Joy to the world, don’t be deceived

Excellent! But perhaps the repetition is a bit over done I mean for a poem, in the lyrics it would work. As for every day joy and every day Christmas day I agree, in fact I know a girl whose birthday is every day also!

Thanks, Tom. Yes, I only inserted the repetitions to  emphasise that it was based on the hymn, which in that tune has the repetitions! Rhiannon
