I am in Bath, Somerset,
and I must not forget
that there is a lockdown.
I walk from Landsdown
towards George Street.
The sound of my feet
is the only one I hear
and even near the weir
the streets are deserted.
Infection can be averted
if we use common sense
but the situation is tense.
It is worth underlining
that we are complying.
Due to the clampdown
Bath is a ghost town.

Hi Jenny, it was quite a coincidence that the I.P. was about a walk as the photos of the deserted streets of Bath that Emma posted on Facebook gave me the idea of writing on the effect that the lockdown has had on traffic in general. Asking my wife to record the poem was a better move as my attempts failed miserably. She did a first class job. I passed your comments about her rendition and she is chuffed and thanks you very much, as I do too.

Thanks Jane. My job was the easy one; I couldn't have taken the beautiful photos that Emma posted on Facebook and would not have come near the quality and clarity of my wife's reading. My only effort was to scribble a few lines. (But I am keeping the cherries for myself!).

interesting the difference lockdown makes. But when I clicked on the link it brought up you reading 'Selfies', Luigi. Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon. the Soundcloud links are a bit confusing . They show at the top my current recording and the previous one (selfies). It is not clear that you have to click on the top one but that is what it requires. I have now deleted the 'selfies' as I wasn't happy with it anyway, so you should be able to listen to the right one now.

Sorry, I think I just clicked on the 'play' button before. I can see what to do now, and your wife reads it very well! A good co-operative effort, and the strange feeling of echoey emptiness comes over well. Rhiannon

Just back from a stroll in a country lane, not as scenic as the streets of Bath, and found your heartwarming feedback, Claudine.
Joy is thrilled to bits about the favourable response to her vocal chords and enjoyed the experience. I always inform her and my daughters when I get some cherries so it is a kind of sharing.

I hope that you and all the editors (wherever they are) are keeping as well as we are.
