The Naughty Dragon

The naughty dragon lived in a wood, whatever she did she just couldn’t be good.
Do you know what she did that was thought to be bad? What on earth it was that made everyone mad?
You’ll be shocked, but not scared, when her story you’ve heard.
And I feel sure by the end, you’ll want her for your friend.
For Daphne our dragon (yes that was her name), going to school was what led to the fame.
She made lots of mates and joined in the games, but when lessons began her classmates she shamed.
Daphne was jolly and fun, helpful and kind, no friendlier dragon could one hope to find.
But whether reading or writing she fussed and she fiddled, and when drawing and painting she chatted and twiddled.
Daphne did not one sum, and this upset her mum.
And in report after report, it was clear teachers were fraught.
But the worst sin of all, was in the great hall.
Made of stonework of course, when we consider the force,
… of the strength of the flames, when dragons practice their claims.
To be the fiercest of creatures, with hideous features.
Yes, when breathing her fire, Daphne’s naughtiness was most dire.
She upset family and school, and appeared such a FOOL.
The target was a GREAT BIG one, but very naughty Daphne hit none.
So failed no less often, than in all the homework she’d forgotten.
But no matter how cross everyone got, it seemed to them all, Daphne cared not one jot.
And so it went on, and on and on and on and on and on...
Until the day it became clear, towards the end of year.
The Daphne was not misbehaving, but rather help she was craving.
It was the optician’s test that cleared up the mess, and led to the relief of everyone’s stress.
Daphne was naughty no more, and always first through the door.
With her lovely new glasses, framing her long luscious lashes.
Daphne was able to see, just like you and just like me.
No more fiddling and fussing, no, Daphne was BUZZING.
Enjoying her school days, and loving her flame blaze.
So remember this story, in all of its’ glory.
Next time just think twice, and ALWAYS be nice xxx

It's so easy for eyesight
It's so easy for eyesight problems and hearing problems to be missed in children, so I suppose in young dragons! You'd think it would be obvious, but they are so good at picking up cues, that it's not realised often awhile.
Your story reminded me of a cartoon I heard of when I was young. I think there were two young dragons (one read, the other probably white), and a mother dragon. The text below was a famous saying associated somehow with the Welsh flag (Y ddraig goch ddyry cychwyn) which is supposed to mean something like 'The red dragon leads', but literally translates as 'The red dragon started' and so to the typical child's or young dragon's accusation of each other as to who started the fight!
