Black Beauty
Cherish I still
my childhood thrill
when a tale I tell
when a poem I spell
then the applause
despite the flaws.
much of it I owe
to the bird crow
as the roles it carries
to make my stories
and also my songs
still my heart longs
to croon at my will
“I am not over the hill”
still rhymes, I can cite
at kids, an old ager’s spite
on the crow the hated bird
whose deeds stay blurred
but is the most valued being
hence themes in me, ring.
A crow, clever
to drink water
puts pebbles
in water vessels
to raise the level of water
to quench its hunger.
Drops it down the prey
not entering into the fray
with enemies, stronger.
Its caw call at dawn
sync with the rising sun
unafraid of our tom
awakens my mom
to her household chore
it picks up filth from the floor,
harbingers it, guests’ visit
if offered rice to eat.
The feed ensured, then I
for alluring gifts to me
The big banyan tree
owes to crow, to be.
Exist cuckoos to sing
as crow breed its offspring.
Rare heinous kinds eat
only, the crows’ meat.
Thus to protect crow
it is the creator’s show.
At that age
in any village
if crows are not seen
occur must events obscene
During earlier days
die they on natural ways,
now vanish their breed
on poisonous feed
by human race
on their erroneous chase
for happiness and pleasure
but drift that farther.
Serves the crow
though hated as low
to keep dirt-free
creation there to be.T
Treats it, man, ever it with disdain
at their sight, his eyes strain
Peacock is a national bird
wise vision is unwisely erred
on crow versus peacock
the only the beauty, we talk
ungrateful remain we
crows’ service we ignore to see..
If their breeds vanish
with them,, will perish
this creatin
thus goes the caution
Recognize we, the coal
as black diamond after all
appreciating it
on par with diamond's beauty
Thus crow we may call as the black beauty
Hail it with bowed head and bent knee.

Really enjoyed this wonderful
Really enjoyed this wonderful poem! And your lines about how important crows are, that we should see them as black diamonds as useful as coal is so clever

These are highly intelligent
These are highly intelligent birds and beautiful too. I enjoyed your description of them and your tribute to their many innovative ways. Dropping the pebble to raise the water level is one and I've also read they will use sticks as a tool to dig out insects in crevasses. Enjoyed reading this poem and it made me appreciate the crows I sometimes see in my oak tree a little more.
