Morning Swoop
By Richard L. Provencher
- 1379 reads
from a morning crow
trying to imitate an eagle
front of me
as I sit outside
his wing movements
sounding like a pant-pant-pant
as if breathing was
an exercise in gasping from
this humidity
one 24C degree moment
and we each take
a good listen to the scene
before us-
cat napping on porch
families at rest
knowing today will
fulfill another journey
on our bucket list.

Funny you should mention
Funny you should mention crows. I had several on m lawn yesterday morning looking for their breakfast- You set the scene well here- The beating wings, its search for sustenance, the lazy day and I could feel the warmth of the day too- and 24c to me sounds lovely, as here in Florida it hovers arouond 32c (90F) daily.

Love the idea of the crow
Love the idea of the crow imitating an eagle and the shared sense between you and the crow of the day. Nice. Rachel :)

the raven
Do you know the Raven by Edgar Allen Poe? I find his poetry amazing one cannot think how he could have managed it.
The grim black beauty of a crow. Well done! Nolan &
