Sick Leave

You just need a rest
To feel better soon
Go back to bed
In a quiet dark room
Sleep and recharge
Close your eyes and relax
Take deep calming breaths
Mediate to the max
Practise your mindfulness
Go phone the GP
They should give you pills
Just watch some TV
Don’t do any housework
You can’t manage anyway?
Well please check your emails
The deadline’s a day away
Are you feeling better?
It’s been nearly a week
Hope you’re fully recovered
Fighting fit? At your peak?
Ok, take more time
If you’re still feeling rough
But your chronic illness
Is making it tough
So I’ve made an appointment
Occupational health
So if you can just call them
And explain yourself
And do check your email
Respond to me soon
I’m not sure what you mean
That you’ve run out of spoons?
Let’s try and help you
You can work on less days
But the days when you’re home
Please work those anyway
We’ll still cut your money
And keep on your case
As the work that needs doing
It can’t be erased
So do remember
To go home and rest
Try to switch off
We all send you our best
See you on Monday
Try not to be late
And remember to smile more
That would be great

I'm retired now, but this
I'm retired now, but this brings back shivery memories of when I was working. I always felt that the title 'Occupational Health' did actually apply to the wellbeing of the occupation, not the person doing it.
