So I Wrote A Poem

The day gravity stopped 

We floated for weeks 

Propelled by the last breaths of normality 

Numbness infiltrated all

Everyone was tucked in tightly 

Futile sobs filled the darkest crevices

Of our broken world 

Arteries devoid of traffic 

Thundered in their silence 

As people clung to the edges 

Shadows with covered mouths

Furtive islands 

Aching for touch

Holding ourselves apart

As we drifted together 

Feelings forgotten like spider webs

Rode the hot summer breeze 

I couldn’t remember being kissed

So I wrote a poem
