Fast

I’ll wonder after I walk away,
Will I see her again today?
Words fill my brain as I think
Should I ask her for a drink?
Is it too fast? Or far too slow?
What could I possibly do to know?
Hands in pockets, head bowed down
I walk myself to death in town
I’ll wander near and then too far
I’ll think too much to find the bar
I wonder, did I say too much?
Should I ask her out to lunch?
This dog lays pups inside my brain,
They chase their tails, then lie slain,
Balance eludes me, my mind slows
I throw it away before anyone knows
