From Rochdale to the Stars

They say it rains diamonds on Saturn
and that Mars has miles of canals,
I wonder if the shopping trolleys
are from Asdas on Phobos or Demos.
[Does the Earth rise on Mercury?
If Venus is green, why don't we go there?
Would we be jovial on Jupiter?
Will our rocket to Saturn be called Luna-5?]
Between the planets
back-pages of the Daily Comet
are blown in the Solar Wind.
What happens when the sun
disappears behind the Oort Cloud,
is that when those diamonds fall?
[Do Makemake and Haumea
pass by on the Kuiper Belt,
behind the cuddly toy
and the Quaoar Teasmade?]
I’m going to buy that ticket,
take that rocket beyond the moon.
Perhaps I’ll make sense of it,
or maybe just come home
with a diamond in my pocket.

lunar real estate
Very imaginative Ewan, yes and I am buying a plot of land on the Moon. My savings, expensive but a good investment for retirement. Get in before the rush!
Great poem, truth is stranger than fiction & Nolan
