do you think this is a bit churlish? I don't like icing at all and need a rhyme for stillness. Maybe should try again!

Oh, no, I didn't think it churlish.

I see you have changed it

having just managed to make a Christmas cake, I'v e just sent for some royal icing sugar to 'spread white, on all made before'! I don't like the ready-made royal icing, but I do like the real stuff, and the royal icing sugar has the egg already in it and is so much easier than beating the egg whites in!

The ivy sheltering the birds' food seems a nice idea.  Rhiannon

I have terrible memories of when my son made icing snow drifts for the snowman (the size of 2 ping pong balls) to roll down. Then after a few bites declared he didn't like Christmas cake but watched keenly to check we were enjoying his creation. Cake lasted till almost Easter...

You are well on schedule icing already :0) I bet it will be perfect
