Nothing true?
Hey Sudhamayee !
Fervently pray we.
“Your soul to be blest
with peace and rest
Stayed it, distressed
at your lifelong quest
of the peace permanent
not shunning the attachment
to material world of illusion
and after it, your frenzied run.
Born with a silver spoon
wedded best as a boon
blessed with progenies
your old age, them to ease
But the college curriculum
imparts materialistic wisdom
makes one spiritually dumb,
to it, proven traditions succumb.
in it, exists a visible absence
of compassion and coexistence,
love and respect find little place
for material life .in this mad race.
Thanks to the providence
the bureaucratic opulence
not parting you till late age
from a kid to grandma stage
serving your need illusive
inflated it to grow massive.
Time and age stood on the way
to thwart it none can have a say,
billions in bank, properties vast
against their savage cannot last.
Faded your strength and health
failed to fight it out, your wealth
Waned your life, lustrous, once
by the eternal rules of providence.
Followed it the gospels’ tale
A helpless man only can yell.
The soul still defining “You”
wails missing happiness true’.
The torture inflicted on your soul
at end of its Sudhamayee’s role
at an old age home, by your scream
out of your trauma at shattered dream..
Dreamt, you had one day
to die while being aided to pray
for bliss with heavenly abode
with a tearful adieu, head bowed
by each of the family tree, you own
as out of your blood they are grown.
Many were at your beck and call
to attend you an ailment a small
desolated you with time and age
none had time, you to encourage
to aid you pray at the last stage
when the soul leaves the mortal cage.
but in lieu a paid nurse as a proxy of all
would bide you adieu without a tear to fall
Finally you sighed last bidding walls adieu
none as your own was near you
to put on your mouth the Ganga water
as the nurse had many more to look after
No near and dear were praying for you
to all that appeared true but never true
your progenies like you too
are in search happiness true
at the apex of their family tree
in illusion, the reality they continue to see
too busy to spare a moment
even knowing your death was imminent.
Your rituals in grand style, they plan
stopped, it may be by the COVID ban
Money can buy everything as they know
Sudhamayee! Sigh we at your painful show.
Empty-handed
you landed
on this land
and with empty hand
departed you
as to you nothing true
you could make
with you to take.

(N . B Sudhamayee is a character of a departed soul. She was born and brought up in a large bureaucratic family attended by many kids and married to a bureaucrat on a powerful chair till superannuation in a well-to-do family. She had sons and daughter well placed at farthest places in India. After her spouse departed she stayed with her son and daughter and at times alone at her home with aids to help and old thinning population of known neighbors. But her love and affections for progenies and their offspring and the urge of staying in a bigger family compelled her to stay most of the time with her offspring where gradually she felt neglected as they were bus in their family and social life alien to Sudhamayee’s own state. And grandkids out grew the age of Grandma tales.
As sudhamayee got aged she stayed with her sons and daughter.Being busy with their family engagements her sons left her at an old age home. Within three days there she breathed her last.
Here is an attempt to portray her feelings at old age home and reflection of her soul.Old generations like Sudhamayee in India grew and lived in joint family having size mare than ten)
