Melifluenza Epidydimi (French) draped,
Cravid Suedensis on a spur of Greyzass Tonic'fa -
Untrimmed, it spurts for almost the width of the path
Then cascades dirtwards, spilling petals
Now its short season wanes.
The trelliswork of forty years before is glimpsed.
Grizedale Knotweed, arching from behind a norangery,
Lifts its be-burred heads aloft and sneezes with the winds.
Bicycles strewn by last century's kids rust,
Reduce, recycle.
A glam'rous Toad Newton flirts, petals winking,
Boysenberry blue, without the promise.
My grandfather's work remembered in coup d'œils.
Lanterns hang now, Suze up-laddered swings
One foot-out, one foot-in
To pin the last one to the Donchii Hydrangea.
Guests here in ten, I pour
Elderberry fizz in fluted cups.
Get ready to dance the Crocosmia Montbretia.
