Ode on a dagger

(a tribute to the downtrodden and dispossessed)

Our relic,

came from India,

with gold handle and silver sheath.

Found its way to a Mancunian mantlepiece.

Antique, with

the head of a Moghul Emperor, in gold, tiny.

Distant memories,

i wonder, did he use it?

To carve a mango or,

to kill?

Perhaps he gave it to her,

dripping yellow.

Yellow juice, the mango that is.
