Seven I’ve lost

This time of year!

My sister absent

For her I fear!

Receive a text

Her saying goodbye?

Her struggles real

I know she tries!

Look at the screen,

I hold my breath!

Sick since fifteen

Don’t leave me bereft!

Breathe out slowly,

Its just my mother!

Relief washes over,

Its not the other!

Christmas is here

A day of plenty!

Look into her eyes

I see they are empty!

‘Please don’t leave me!’

I plead to her soul

The only thing

She has to control

Will she go

Into the ground

The poisonous vial

Will she have downed

‘Make it ‘til dawn!’

I pray every night,

Wake up and smile

She’s my delight!

Will she be next

To disappear?

I live in wonder
