Much more startling…

The shepherds saw a startling sight,
but the sight they went to see
– the little baby born that night
they realised now was he
who had a glorious past
and a future which would last and last … !
Awesome the angels in the night;
far greater awe when Christ they saw.
Those men with riches travelled far
to worship this new King;
they knew the meaning of the star
and came to worship him.
So humble now was he
but soon his glory all will see.
Awesome their wealth, and journey long;
they worship, bow to Jesus now!
Distracting gifts, and glitzy noise
– you may this mystery miss:
his lifting gift, for lasting joys
free taste of coming bliss –
not just a pretty story
but tells us of the door to glory!
Awesome to know this God-child will
suffer, redemption to fulfil.

three wise men
The story of the three wise men remains fascinating, and his life so humble. There was something though, it seemed they have mixed up their east and west, probably I'm mistaken.

the three wise men
In Matthew, The wise men came from the east, if the star above Bethlehem was seen from the east it would be seen in the west, not the east.
"behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east"
"we have seen his star in the east". You see the problem? It could though perhaps meant to be "from the east" or "in the west" but as it is is misleading.
"They departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was."
So here is the problem, it is not clear, or it is probably meant read as natural, and is mistaken. Same thing, The same problem. This is the King James other translations might be clearer. As far as I'm concerned it was meant to be so, Saw "the star in the east" and is an error in the KJV.
I don't know about the Prophets. This was much to much trouble sorry Rhiannon! Nolan &
