Lies, Truth and true freedom

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Satan is the father of lies –
he leads astray.
Jesus is the Truth, all wise –
He shows true Way.

Satan contradicts God’s Word,
he harms, enslaves.
If you heed God’s Truth when heard,
it frees, and saves.

Freed from guilt and punishment,
and freed to do
good things, temptations spurn, repent,
enjoy life new.

Freed to know God’s joy and grace,
and freed to face
today, tomorrow, illness, death
and life beyond this earth.
