Arthur prays, I think too often;
God is bored with him.
Mary trips up on the stairs
and lets the goblins in.
In city streets the feathers fly,
caught up by every wind;
redemption offers no way out
for those who have not sinned.
Wings that beat the upper air
fall silent like the snow
and fold away a future
that none will ever know.
