Having been accused of reckless driving, once we were working the whole morning and getting tired, Prof Sauer said call it a day for lunch I said “yes, we're getting reckless”. Among the engineering students they said that for “Tom is in traction in HF Hospital he crashed his car”, the standard reply was “Nou eers?” i.e “Only Now?”
As Prof Sauer told me in the Modern Language translation, 2 Kings 9:20 it says “for he always drives like a madman”.
It is really not as bad as tha't!
It was a big price for me to pay, not being able to do research with him since after all the trouble began. There is a legacy which I want us to take further, as completing (unless he already has) the research monograph he was working on, taking further his truly original work on double families of evolution operators, “Empathy Theory”.
There is great potential applications in PDE's with dynamic boundary conditions, and a worthwhile study in itself.
