My Home Is My Castle (IP)

My home is my castle. Isn’t that what they say? Why do people say that? There are lots of reasons for this. These are my personal reasons why I believe this about my family and my home.
My home is a safety zone. Castles were built as strategic places that defended against attacks and could withstand sieges. The longest siege in English history was seven years long between 1461-1468 during the war of the roses. People stayed inside the large stone walls and were safe. Today most people have enough food to last a few days so we don’t have to step outside into the uncertain world. The world that has dangers lurking around every corner. Our homes become our refuge.
Castles can become family homes. The royal family of the UK has Windsor castle. It was a favourite of Queen Elizabeth II in World war II as it has been documented she slept in the dungeon for safety. My family is my world and I love when we all are in the same room especially in the winter. We snuggle in fluffy pyjamas and lots of blankets with the electric fire’s orange glow illuminating the room. It is the family castle.
Finally we do what makes us happy in our houses. People judge people for little quirks. We all have silly little eccentricities. For example I love to write bits and pieces and I enjoy reading about historical things as you can see here. Some people like to collect things. Others have conditions that make them strange to some. In our home we can be our own selves with no discrimination.
All of these thing means that my house is my castle. It's my safety, family home and we can be ourselves.
