In The Olden Days.....

In the olden days…
I was in my local superstore late last night, as I approached the tills, to go to the self-service, I saw a young child, making a noise while holding his hands out. The young child was age about two years old, he was communicating, to his older brother, who was age about four. I then saw the four-year-old, go to the nearby pick n mix and lift one of the flaps of the many selections of sweets, and took out two large brown sweets, he gave one to his little brother, who put it straight into his mouth, and he ate the one he got for himself, as his dad looked on. The dad was putting items onto the till section, the young, boy was in the shopping trolly, the part where toddlers sit.
I saw all this, on my way to the self-section.
When I got there, I was going to tell the staff there, “A four-year-old, at the tills, just stole two sweets, from the pick n mix.” That’s what I would have said, many years ago.
Now, I know that there is no point, two small sweets, each time they go shopping, is classed as nothing. The young child clearly knew what to expect, and that was why his little hands was outstretched in anticipation.
I have watched programmes on telly, of those who steal, and sadly for most of those who steal, shoplift, they 100% get away with it. They get away with it, because they and the stores know that, the police will only go to the store, for items stolen to the value of £250 or over.
They are free to go, to keep on stealing, over and over again. What a great law, how lucky they are.
Most of those that steal, they get away with it, for a big superstore that I saw the little boy stealing, the one security man looking on his monitors, can’t possibly see every thief.
The little boy will keep on stealing, until he gets caught, or someone let him know it is a crime. His dad saw him, and said nothing.
