I am a sheradised annular nail.
I am sturdy and stable.
I fix down wood and try do it
with as little damage as able.
I'm sheradised - so reasonably tough
and resistant to watery harm.
but not so tough as a galvanised one
but feel that this is part of my charm.
I try to keep myself hidden below
so that the surface won't snag.
I don't like to hurt anyone,
not even fray the littlest rag.
No one considers the annular nail,
unless the nail is showing at all -
in which case it becomes a nuisance.
to be replaced lest any should fall.

Interesting idea!
Seems some sort of metaphor in that – if the person or thing is doing her/his/its job well, you don't notice it, only notice when the job isn't being done properly! Rhiannon
