Endless energy twisting,
winding underground,
gnarled, curling fingers
stretch and grab.
Taking, tasting,
joyfully extending,
expanding to the blue
stretching high.
Swelling and blooming,
colours bursting,
offering delights
to the secret workers
busily chirping, fluttering, buzzing,
savouring, spreading cheerfully,
multiplying and feeding.
Secretly deceiving,
heaving, breathing,
alive with magic,
brings forth it's fruit.
Colours painted by
the strokes of an artist,
realism to impressionism -
a rainbow spectrum
by caring creator
in daily toil.
Waving hands brighten
and glow before falling,
giving and nourishing,
gently encouraging,
time to replenish
and gather up more.
Seemingly sleeping,
not dead just resting,
watching and waiting
cool soil to awaken,
bring forth a new birth.
Seeing is believing.
If you believe it you'll see it
magic lives!
In the forest, in the earth.

I gradually realised how you
I gradually realised how you were cleverly showing the reality of power making all nature so active and beautiful. I liked the reference to the busy birds! We tend to use magic for either the fantastical/imaginative/trickery, or the evil forces, but here you seem to have used it for the good upholding wonderful power. and I liked the reference to the seasons and preparation. I took 'secretly deceiving' to refer to the 'not so obvious sometimes to those who don't look properly'? Rhiannon

Your poem is magic!
Unfortunately, we humans may someday destroy the magic you so beautifully describe...
Anyway, an inspiring read!!
