I have banned the L-word 
from my phone
because love is synonymous to losing it

Yes, I am broken 
and so in love with you
so in love that I can't help but notice

that every "I love you"
has been followed 
like the grim reaper
by "but I hate to"

Well I hate that you hate it
I hate that you don't 
think you have a say in the matter

I hate that this is a fate worse than death
when I am just happy 
that you text me good morning
and tell me good night

My phone buzzes from boys 
that are sarcastic like you
have messy hair like you

but they are not you
and you still have not responded

and if I prod you
you could leave again
you could tell me this is not working out
that I am high maintenance

and god do I know it 
but I have no self control
and do you even understand

that when you don't say good night
I don't sleep

but just because you don't say good morning
doesn't mean I won't wake up
it just means I don't want to

because at least in my dreams
when you say "I love you"
there are no terms and conditions
or regrets
