Red Roses Are For Lovers

Once I was sanguine.
Sanguinary? One of those.
In the chamber where we met
Our rhythms matched. We danced,
You took the lead.
I should have watched my step.
But I thought we could be lost together.
I remember kisses,
Lips parted, or skin. Something pink,
A tongue grown barbs.
What teeth you had!
This is the problem with damaged people:
They break. But lovers will embrace shattered crystal
And never know they bleed --
Red roses are for lovers.
Jagged edge embedded, we ruptured,
Myocardial infarction. Does the heart attack
Or is it attacked? When love dies
Does it leave a corpse?

I was truly impressed with
I was truly impressed with this poem and the final verse sums it all up 'when love dies does it leave a corpse?' is inspirational. Poem of the Month for me!

What really resonated for me
What really resonated for me was the two different 'agendas' and a feeling of betrayal. I was hung out to dry many, many years ago before I met my wife and I simply couldn't see she was taking what she wanted from the relationship and ultimately abandoning me when she got bored.
