"Wait up, Mick." I stood still as my little brother stopped and walked back toward me.
"What's the matter, Big Sis?", he questioned with a grin.
His brown wiry hair and dark eyes reflect his inner solace. "My shoes are untied, hold this for me." He grabbed the bag that's in my hand and I squat down to tie the knots. Early summer have arrived and the gentle breeze went through me, then I thought things are going to be different and I stood up in confidence.
"Alright, let's go."
Mick cheered: "Yay!" and swayed his steps as he's struggling to carry the bag. His movement is uneven, off balance and when he's about to fall, I reached for his shoulder to prevent him from getting injured and said:
"Let me hold that, you're just a kid, remember?"
"Yeah.", he smiled in embarrassment.
"So, how was school?", I asked while walking down the long winded path and he responded, "It's fine."
A sad and lonely posture came to my head, wondering it it's indeed fine.
"Like what?", pushing against his avoidance. He withdraw his hand in his pockets then briefly said:
"The school is a lot of fun."
I laughed at the statement and with him staring at me, I pad on his back.
"Come on, why are you hiding for?" He frowned, "I'm not hiding", then he closed his eyes with a triumphant expression.
"The teacher in my class is very nice, except that big meanie, Robert. He always bullied me and steal my things, last time we got into a fight--" He stopped to look down at the ground in shame: "I didn't want to but--. He's a jerk!" He exclaimed in anger.
I calmed him down by saying, "Hey, don't be so upset, you don't need to be so worked up. I pause for a moment then said: "I have an idea, why don't you go to the grocery store and buy yourself a drink, pick your favorites." He grew excited and ran toward the store with the money.
Then abruptly, a shout came from a window behind me: "Silence, women!" followed by a series of throwing furniture and suddenly a women blasted through the door, slamming her onto the ground. A male figure appear on the doorway, holding a baseball bat and yelled:
"I own you, if you don't do what I say then get out of this house!"
My heart race as the dilemma envelops, I quickly ran to the woman's aid, her body was bruised and blood tripped from her head. The door slammed shut as I held the victim in my hands, and I started to panic.
"Big Sis!", I heard a voice calling me across the street, Mick was holding two bottles while running towards me. He looked happy and relieved that he saw me. As he was crossing the street, the light turned red and in my mind, I was going to tell him to turn back but my throat went dry and it was too late. A car rushed in to reap of his body and he disappeared forever. Mick, I merely uttered.
